let me start by saying that my computer is a pentium - 1 with 166 Mhz and so i do not know the extremely recent games yet. but the games which i mention below are all time favorites, no matter how old the games were....
nominees for the 'best game' award....
[1] Titanic : No, this has nothing to do with the movie. But it has everything to do with the ship. You are a detective on board the Titanic and you meet people as you move along in different situations and places. These real life characters give you tid-bits of what you should do and in the meanwhile, you come to know your mission through certain 'sources' on board the ship. This game has everything: the graphics, the hard-core logical brainstorming, skill in fighting, and whats more its a 3-d first person game. If you're thinking of buying a game soon, this in THE ONE.
[2] The Journeyman Project - 1,2,3 : I bet you've heard of 'buried in time'?? Well, that's part 2 of this game and theres a part three too. If you're a lover of time-travelling and science fiction, then a glimpse of this aswesome game is enough to take your breath away. You are agent 5, of an organisation which is made to protect history. A complicated game and concept, and is definetly for the intellectual type.
[3] Leisure Suit Larry - love for sail : ... a really funny game about this short and funny guy named Larry who has to do 'all kinds of stuff' to go about winning weird games on this cruise liner . Superb fun...especially if you play it with your friends. If you are between 16-20 and are male, then this one's for you! Not only do you use your brains but your sense of humour comes in handy too !
[4] Commandos : This game is all about strategy, role-playing and skill. You command a small group of expert commandos and you have lots of varying missions. Each commando is specialised in a certain skill like the 'spy' who can disguise as the enemy. If you loved 'command and conquer' then this game is the ultimate. It's the best game, for those of you who love strategy.
[4] Indiana Jones : The Fate of Atlantis : If you love thinking, then this is game is yours. You hafta use your brain constantly in this game, as you travel through the deserts, ice caves and cities as Indian Jones, in his search for the city of Atlantis. This game may not have great graphics, but it'll keep you busy for at least a month!
[5] Normality : I only played the shareware of this game but it was so wonderfully fun I'm sure the real game is an absolute thriller. A very funny game , 3-D first person view and you are a wacky teenage freak who has to do something to 'liven up' his boring city. This one's a Must .
[6] Age Of Empires : This game is in the same league as 'Command and Conquer'. Once addicted, you can never stop. Basically the same principle, but the only differnce is that this is much more medieval...but on the whole, a lot more fun too!
[7] Grand Theft Auto : You are a gangster...and so you're definitely NOT the good guy here! You have missions like stealing cars, bombing buildings and similar stuff. It's a top-view game, with okey-dokey graphics but its great all the same. You can stop literally any car or bike or bus on the highway and take over it! Thats the best part of this game.
[8] Need For Speed : For all you racing game lovers, this game will be an addiction for sure. It has so many parts - hot pursuit, high stakes, and so on. You have a wide range of cars, around 6-7 tracks which include deserts, snow-peaked mountains and even sunny beaches! Great graphics....which get better as new versions are released. I believe there are 5 parts at present.
[9] Crusader : No regret : Action packed fighting game where you are the 'crusader'.... really lots of levels in this game , and is very tough too. You have lots of inventory items and the graphics on the whole are good. This is not a first person visual, but a 3-d angle anyway. Took me around 2 months to finish this one....
[10] Simcity 3000 : Start from an empty terrain with water and trees to a hi-fi complicated futuristic city with great monuments , highways, airports, sea ports and lots more. You can even see the people walking on the streets of the city that you've built. Great game to get addicted to. This one's for the sim- game lovers.
