The Basics

I feel that art, like music, is a form of expression, where you let your mind and heart flow to the picture you are drawing. So whenever you sit down to draw, never pressurise yourself... be calm and let your thoughts and emotions come out on paper!

Most of the times people, who are not too fond of art, draw, is maybe to sketch a diagram during class, or for the sake of presentation.... maybe in their projects, or in some other field. If you are one of them, then this site will surely help your performance ...at the least the following tips definitely will...

Outlines

Everything in this world needs a base to start from . In art, this starting point or backbone is the 'Outlines'. They are always necessary before actual painting or coloring is done. Whether by pencil or a light coloring tool, you should have an idea as to how your drawing is going to come out- what size, what shape, whether the objects are in proportion with each other, and all such things. Use the pencil for these outlines whenever possible, and one thing you have to remember is that outlines should never be seen. Or to rephrase that, never draw dark outlines.

Holding the pencil

When you are holding the pencil remember that you are holding a tool to express yourself. Do not at all put pressure on it, as it will only make things harder for you. Hold it maybe one inch above the lead and keep your wrist as the pivot. By that, I mean you should rest your hand on your wrist and not on the lead of the pencil, which some people do. Practice drawing semi-circles with your wrist as the centre of the circle and the pencil drawing the circumference.

Sketching

Assume you want to draw a landscape. Since outlines are not going to be very clear-cut, you shouldn't draw sharp outlines....and this is where sketching comes into play. Never ever be afraid of scribbling... as long as the scribbling is done lightly... 'cuz the more vague you are at the start , the better your sketched picture will be.
